Výklad

Look není look after

Částice mění význam

  • look after = starat se, look for = hledat, look forward to = těšit se.
  • give up = vzdát se, find out = zjistit, run out of = dojít zásoba.
  • turn off = vypnout, take off = sundat nebo vzlétnout, get on = nastoupit i vycházet.
  • Look forward to je následované -ing: I look forward to seeing you.

Tip: frázové sloveso se učte jako jednu jednotku, s českým protějškem ve větě.

Jedno sloveso, jedna situace

Příběh

  • The bus took off není o oblečení. U letadla ano, u autobusu spíš pulled away.
  • Take off a coat = sundat. Take off = vzlétnout. Kontext rozhoduje.
  • Get on with somebody = vycházet s někým.
  • Run out of time je u testu častější než run out time.

Tip: když částici neznáte, představte si gesto. Off je pryč, up je do konce.
