8e1cd0855d Podcast voices: natural provider TTS, and system-voice hygiene
Two reports, one root: the platform's speech engine.

"Loud cracking at the end of every sentence" is the browser/OS TTS popping
between its internal sentence chunks (an idle cancel makes it worse). Hygiene
for that path: never cancel when nothing is pending, normalise the spoken text
(control characters, ellipses, dashes), and a 140ms beat between sections so
speech never runs into the engine's tail.

The real fix is a second voice source that does not use the platform engine:
- lib/providers carries TTS profiles (OpenAI gpt-4o-mini-tts, Groq
  playai-tts, any OpenAI-compatible /audio/speech behind the custom provider),
  male voices first.
- /api/tts proxies them with the same guards and the key still in headers.
- the picker gains System / Natural, with the provider's voice list.
- lib/podcast-audio plays one clip per section through a hidden <audio>
  element, measures the clip's real duration and gives each word a slice of it
  proportional to its spoken length - the highlight follows the audio exactly,
  and pause/seek/chapters become real audio operations. Clips cache per
  session, the next section generates while the current plays, and a voice
  change disposes the element and its blobs. Speed applies live (setRate)
  without dropping the cache.

podcast-test stubs /api/tts with a real silent WAV and pins the path: the
voice list, the request body, exactly one playing element, and the highlight
riding currentTime. 43 checks. tests/lib.mjs launches Chromium with the
autoplay policy relaxed (a real device has the listener's gesture).

bfc0f806b9 The scene stops heating the MacBook
"Terribly high CPU usage, the MacBook gets really hot" - a fanless MacBook
Air on a 144Hz screen. Measured on that machine with headed engines
(process CPU plus the per-process GPU time macOS keeps): an idle Aero
library cost LibreWolf ~110% CPU and ~230ms/s of GPU, the study feed ~130%,
Chromium up to ~57% CPU and ~350ms/s of GPU, Safari ~220-250ms/s of
WindowServer GPU. Priced one by one:

- the gradient mask on .ice-floats re-rendered the animated layer offscreen
  on every frame (~75 points of Gecko CPU). The floats now rise through a
  plain rectangular band clear of the header, the bottom chrome and the
  rail, and fade in and out inside it, so the clip never cuts a visible one;
- the overlay grain forced a backdrop readback per frame for a texture that
  measured a mean <=0.11/255 difference: removed;
- the invisible blob drift made every frame a full-screen redraw: the blobs
  are painted once;
- static glass (answer tiles, feedback panel, chips, inputs, dropzones,
  lists, segmented controls, Aero hint chips) re-blurred the moving scene
  every frame: only floating glass blurs now, and Aero's baked chat chrome
  drops a live blur that never showed under the bake;
- the scene also parks while the window has no focus and under any dialog
  or sheet scrim (.scene-pause); the loading icon is a compositor-run CSS
  animation instead of a framer-motion main-thread loop.

After, focused and animating: LibreWolf library 109% -> 33% CPU, study
134% -> 34%, chat 130% -> 42%; Chromium GPU 2.5-4.4x lower with 7-22 points
less CPU; Safari's WindowServer GPU -20-26% in Aero, about half in dark.
Unfocused or under a sheet: nothing. bubbles-test sweeps every float through
41 phases against the band and pins the parking and the cost contract;
tests/heat-probe.mjs (macOS) repeats the measurement; the suites find
Playwright's Chromium on macOS.

All 15 suites pass, lint clean, the contrast scan lost a finding. Version
0.6.7, SW v89.

b315e2a1aa Touch devices blur the live backdrop instead of the baked layer
Mobile engines repaint background-attachment: fixed late (iOS treats it
as scroll), so the baked glass showed a stale crop of the wallpaper
until a tap forced a repaint - "some of the UI looks bugged until I
click it". On touch devices (max-width 639px or pointer: coarse) the
bake is dropped for a real backdrop-filter over the live scene, so the
bubbles blur through the glass as they pass and the position is correct
by construction. Hand-rolled frost fills keep their own tints there;
desktop keeps the baked layer (measured cheaper and verified correct).

Pinned with a touch-context check in the mobile suite (124 checks).

c88ad2865a Thin frosted Aero glass, boot-theme fix, latest background revision
The white surfaces were reading as a milky white panel (a card top was
~71% white). The frosted recipes now use a 14% base veil plus the gloss
over the pre-blurred wallpaper, small chrome (rows, chips, segments,
buttons) keeps a touch more veil, and nothing nested inside a sheet or
dialog uses the viewport-aligned layer (it showed the raw dark water
under the settings theme labels at 1.5:1 — nested chrome falls back to
the flat fills over the genuinely blurred sheet).

The first-load text bug was the boot script: its dark test was
`s && !a ? s === 'dark' : matchMedia(...)`, which for a stored aero fell
through to the OS preference, so a dark-preferring machine loaded with
both `dark` and `aero` classes and every `.dark` rule painted over the
wallpaper until a theme toggle re-applied the classes. The stored value
now decides alone; a dark-colorScheme check pins it in the mobile suite
(123 checks).

Background: the user's latest Gemini scene (1280x714) re-encoded to
public/aero/background.webp (206 kB) with a fresh pre-blurred sibling.

Contrast: 0 below-minimum findings, 0 axe violations, all three themes.

e56653dae1 Frutiger Aero theme, pixel-measured contrast fixes, sheet surfaces
Frutiger Aero (Settings -> Theme): a third theme, not a dark/light variant.
A sky gradient with a strip of grass, the glacier blobs become clouds, the
orbs soap bubbles, glass gets the classic horizon gloss and the buttons a
glossy aqua. The light/dark toggles (header, rail, chat header) hide while it
is on and the picker says why; the pre-paint script applies the class before
first paint and the PWA status bar follows (#3fa3e0). Its muted/frost text is
darker than Light's because those labels sit directly on the sky.

Contrast, measured on real pixels (tests/contrast.mjs, now covering aero):
- The light settings sheet was translucent over a dark scrim, so its muted
  text measured ~2.8:1. Sheets and dialogs now use --glass-sheet-bg (a more
  opaque surface), and Light's --text-muted is a touch darker.
- Result: 0 below-minimum findings and 0 axe violations across every screen,
  all three themes, phone and desktop.

Also: the suites now seed the cookie notice as already dismissed (they run as
a returning user); the regression suite opts out to test the notice itself —
the previous deploy failed its gate because the notice blocked a chat chip
click. The notice also hides during immersive sessions (overlay-open), so it
can never cover a study feed.

3f52ab47c2 Infra: split dev and production (releases, services, deploy script)
- Production now runs from ~/freezmo-prod/current (release symlink) as a
  standalone server on :3207; releases are exported by scripts/deploy.sh,
  built and e2e-verified on a temp port, switched atomically, health-
  checked via the new /api/healthz (commit + build time) and rolled back
  automatically on failure. Last 5 releases kept; scripts/rollback.sh for
  manual rollback. Shared env + data live in ~/freezmo-prod/shared/ and
  are symlinked into every release (existing sync/push data migrated and
  verified identical).
- Dev runs from ~/freezmo via freezmo-dev.service: next dev on :3217
  (LAN only), its own build folder (.next-dev via NEXT_DIST_DIR), its own
  data (~/freezmo/.freezmo-dev), DEV badge, dev favicon/theme colour,
  "Freezmo Dev" PWA identity and never the production service worker.
- /api/healthz + the Settings Details version row (short commit + build
  time). output: standalone in next.config (next start still works).
- AGENTS.md documents the workflow rules: only dev updates during a task,
  temporary dirs/ports for test builds, and deploy-at-the-end as the only
  production path. README gains an Environments and deploy section.
- Fix found by the rehearsal: lib/dev-mode.ts must not be a client module
  (a server component importing a constant from a "use client" module
  gets a truthy proxy, which baked dev metadata into production builds).
- SW -> freezmo-v34.

dbd5dfbc58 Move the e2e suites into the repo (tests/), out of /tmp
The browser harness lived in /tmp/opencode and an overnight reboot
wiped it. It now lives in tests/ and survives reboots, is versioned
and runs with one command.

- tests/lib.mjs: shared helpers (Chromium auto-detect, seeding,
  IndexedDB fixtures, stub/extra instance spawn with process-group
  cleanup, check/finish).
- tests/run-all.mjs + npm run test:e2e [filter]: runs the ten suites
  in order with a summary; suites that need a stub Ollama or VAPID
  keys start their own next start instance on 3208/3209, verify the
  port is free and kill the group on exit. Test scratch in
  tests/.tmp/ (gitignored).
- Suites rebuilt and green against the current build: regression 38,
  mobile 94 (tab matrix, ... sheet, settings sheet, axe), wizard 83,
  native 31 (PWA/offline/share/back/undo/haptics/draft), i18n 13,
  freeze-loading 6, review 15, phase1 36 (backup/sync/usage limits),
  phase2 42 (learning engine/reminders), phase3 21 (homework check).
  379 checks, 10/10 suites in one full run.
- playwright-core + axe-core added as devDependencies; CHROME env or
  the newest ~/.cache/ms-playwright chromium is used.
- README: new decision 45 documenting the harness; decision 44's
  verification note updated.

The older suites' exact sources were lost with the wipe, so the
rebuilt versions reconstruct the same feature areas rather than
being byte-identical.
